Prairie dog in the clouds and what to feed a baby

Mom and Andrew were spending time at home when Andrew came up with another recollection of a previous life. He told his mom: "When I was a prairie dog for one day, I went up into the clouds, and then came back down again, and then I wasn't a prairie dog any more. Then he launched into a story of when his mom was a baby and he was taking care of her (obviously mom has a previous life as well, even though she doesn't seem to recall any of it). He said: "Do you remember when you were a baby for one day and I was taking care of you and I was giving you baby food? Mom asked: "Oh yeah, what were you feeding me?" He said: " I was feeding you your favorite food, milk". Mom then asked if that was all he was feeding her. He said: "No, I also fed you carrots, green beans, bananas and broccoli. Oh, wait, no, I didn't give you broccoli, babies don't eat broccoli, do they (Andrew doesn't like broccoli)? I fed you and you ate everything; do you remember that?" End of story.

Cats have 9 lives

Yesterday Andrew was talking about his cat, Miezer. He said: "A long time ago, when I was big, Miezer had another name (seems that cats do have more than 1 life)." I asked him what Miezer's previous name was and he started spelling the name, obviously with good reason, since it certainly wasn't your standard cat name - SRZNUNY 8391. No idea why he also had a number and Andrew didn't really shed any light on it. He then decided to talk about age and confided in me that he didn't want to reach the age of 100 (plenty of time to worry about that, though), because that would take too long.
Stay tuned for more.

Taking care of Mom and winning big

Andrew had eye surgery today and on the way to the hospital he entertained Mom with another "recollection". He told her: "When you and Heidi were babies and I was big, I took you swimming at the pool. Afterward I put you in the carrier and took you to the mailbox, put the mail in the mailbox and then took you home to give you milk and baby food.
A bit later he told her another story, about having won a million dollars. When she asked just how he won that money, he told her he won it playing soccer (even though he has never played soccer!). He was on the American team and wore a red shirt and he was playing against the German team, who wore blue shirts. He won the money by kicking the winning goal! Way to go, Andrew!
I guess he spent the money on something already, since we haven't seen any of it.

Babies in the front yard

Andrew had an appointment with his eye doctor yesterday and on the way there he talked about how much he liked going there because they have a playhouse and a caboose in the waiting room and they also have a toy in the exam room that he likes very much. I don't know how that related to his next topic, but maybe it was because there was a doctor involved in his next story as well. He said: "Guess what, Omi, there were babies in our front yard!" He wasn't very forthcoming on when this event happened and told me that there were 10 babies in all. I asked him what he did with the babies and he said that he picked them all up (quite a task for one little guy) and brought them inside, and then the doctor came and took them to the hospital. I was left to wonder what the significance of this story was, because once he's done with a story, that's it, but at least it had a happy ending - the doctor took care of the babies.

Scholastic achievements

The other day, when I picked up Spencer from school, he was very excited to show us the little toy frog he got out of the treasure box, a reward for good behavior. Of course, Andrew was not to be outdone and immediately launched into a success story of his own, which started off with "when I was 12 years old and went to Bowie High School" and drew an immediate response from Spencer, who informed Andrew in no uncertain terms that Andrew wasn't 12 years old and even if he was, he wouldn't go to high school until he was at least 14 and the whole thing was just a lie.
Andrew was of course unfazed and continued on with the actual point he was trying to make, which was that he also got a toy from the treasure chest for good behavior. Spencer tried to point out that there are no treasure chests in high school, but Andrew simply ignored that as well. Maybe he has a point - why can't high schools have treasure chests for good behavior?

Andrew's former lives

Yesterday afternoon, after picking up Spencer from school, we had to take a different route due to a road closure and ended up driving by a wooded area. Spencer commented on the wooded area and asked if this was a forest and wondered about what animals might be in the woods. Andrew then decided to participate in the conversation and said: "When I was a bear for one day" (where did that come from?), but was immediately cut off by Spencer who told him in no uncertain terms that Andrew had never been a bear in the past. Of course Andrew insisted that yes, he had been a bear before, but was upset that his story was being challenged, so he refused to tell me what he had experienced in his life as a bear. He finally relented the next day when I asked him again and he told me that he had 2 baby bears when he was a bear for a day and they needed milk, so he came out of the woods, asked his mom for milk and then went back to give the milk to his baby bears. End of story.
More tall tales to come....
